Health Benefits of Grooming

Grooming ensures your dog stays picture-perfect—but did you know it’s also beneficial to their wellbeing?
Here’s how grooming keeps your pet in tip-top shape.
  • Preventative Screenings: Our groomers and spa specialists are highly trained to check your dog’s skin, paws, and ears for any signs of abnormalities as part of their appointment. This way, we can help detect any signs of a hidden problem as early as possible.
  • Healthy Skin and Coat: Keeping the coat and skin clean and free of debris can prevent a range of uncomfortable conditions including skin irritation, mat formation, and sores. Keeping the fur brushed and clean nourishes the skin and promotes healthy blood flow.
  • Paw Health: Nail maintenance is critical to your dog’s overall health. Like human nails, dog nails grow at a constant rate and need to be regularly trimmed. Nails that grow too long become uncomfortable for your dog and can split, break, or disrupt their natural posture. Our groomers are quick and accurate at providing nail trims, and they can be added to any service or bought separately.

Dog Grooming FAQ

What vaccinations are required for grooming/bathing?

To keep our guests safe and healthy, we require all dogs be up to date on vaccinations for rabies, distemper combo, Bordetella, and canine influenza.

Harmony Pet Resort Vaccination Policy
Harmony Pet Resort maintains industry-best vaccination requirements to protect all our guests, and one of the ways we do this is by requiring all pets staying with us to have up-to-date vaccination records on file.  The required vaccinations for dogs include Rabies, Distemper/Lepto/Parvo, Bordetella (every 6 months), and Canine Influenza.  VACCINATION RECORDS MUST BE PROVIDED PRIOR TO YOUR DOG’S STAY WITH US!  To ensure a hassle-free check-in, it helps to make sure we have the vaccination records well before the date of your check-in.  Please email your pet’s vaccine records at least 4 days before your scheduled arrival.

Vaccinations should be given at least 5-7 days prior to visiting Harmony Pet Resort for boarding, daycare, grooming or training.  It is recommended the Bordetella Intranasal vaccination be given at least 24 hours before your pet arrives.
Proof of your pet’s vaccinations will be kept on file.  We prefer vaccination records be delivered in advance of your arrival to help simplify and speed up your check-in.

Please email your pet’s vaccination records to:  info@harmonypetresort.com with your dog’s name and “Vaccination Records” in the subject line.

Titres are accepted in lieu of vaccinations.
·         DHLPP:  Initial puppy shots required, Booster thereafter every one to three years.
·         Rabies:  At 16 weeks of age, thereafter, as required by law.
·         Bordetella:  Every 6 months or 24 hours prior to boarding.
·         Parainfluenza:  Usually given at 8, 12, and 16 weeks of age as part of the DA2PP schedule.
·         Canine Influenza Virus:  At least 3-4 weeks prior to boarding.  Canine Influenza is given yearly.

Should you need for your pet to be vaccinated at the Harmony Crossing Animal Hospital, they would like to see you and your pet before your visit with Harmony Pet Resort.  Please allow 15 minutes for this visit with Harmony Crossing Animal Hospital.

While vaccinations are very helpful in preventing the spread of infectious disease, they do not provide 100 percent protection.  Therefore, at Harmony Pet Resort we do our very best to ensure that our facility is as sanitary as possible.  We follow industry standard cleaning procedures and use a state-of-the-art HVAC system to ensure proper ventilation.  We also train our staff to be on the lookout for any signs of illness in any of the pets in our care.

Thank you

Do you require an appointment?

To keep wait times as short as possible, we do require appointments for grooming and bathing.

How do I make an appointment?

Please call us at (706) 923-1881 to get your grooming appointment started.

Can you give my dog a specific haircut or style?

Our stylists are experienced in providing many kinds of haircuts from breed-specific classics to custom styles.

What kinds of products do you use?

We only use high quality shampoos and conditioners designed for use with pets. We offer a line of specialty formulas including deep conditioning, hypoallergenic, coat whitening, and many others.

Can you groom my puppy?

Yes, we’d love to introduce your puppy to grooming. We believe it’s important to bring your dog for their first grooming appointment early in life so they can get accustomed to the sights, sounds, and handling of the salon.

How often should my dog come in for a bath?

Many dogs benefit from a once-monthly bath, but it depends on your dog’s individual coat, activity level, and health. Some dogs benefit from baths as often as every two weeks.

How often does my dog need their nails trimmed?

Like human nails, dog nails grow constantly and will get too long if not trimmed regularly. To keep their paws comfortable, most pet parents will bring their dogs in for a nail trim every 2-3 weeks.

Can my dog get a bath while they’re visiting for lodging or daycare?

Absolutely, we’d love to send your furry friend home sparkling and fresh. Just let us know ahead of time so we can book their appointment at the salon.
What is your Cancelation/No Show Policy?
  • A pet that comes 15 minutes after their scheduled time will be considered late and will be subject to a fee of $15.
  • A pet that comes 30 minutes after their scheduled time will be considered a No Show and will be subject to a fee of 50% of the pet’s scheduled service and will have to reschedule for another day.

Appointments that are not cancelled at least the day before their schedule appointment date may be subject to a fee of 50% of the pets scheduled service, payable with funds on file or when scheduling your next appointment.
